Oh, hello there.

I never meant to take such a long post-hiatus from Detour after my trip to Omaha. Here we are though, nearly a month later and this is the first post I’ve truly written (not including my ‘In a Flash’ posts) since my return.

Okay, that’s not true.

I’ve started on my England/Ireland trip posts but I’ll be frank; finding my voice for said posts has been a ride. A long, bumpy, and frustrating ride.

Do you ever have that problem?

You know what you want to share. You know what stories and photos you want to share.

Yet whenever it comes to writing and posting, you wonder if it’s too much, not enough or the biggest (and peskiest) problem of them all, you wonder if anyone will find it interesting enough to read?

That’s exactly where I am.

What it comes down to is this: I want to bring new things to this blog other than my photography posts (no matter how awesome they are).

While I have dozens of ideas, it’s coming up with a posting schedule, finalizing those ideas and sticking to them.

Consistency, my friends. I want it.

The other more important aspect of this non-hiatus and potential future blog changes has been my job.

Over the last three years, I have been temporarily employed, working forty hours at my job. Now because of the economy and politics being what they are, my hours have been cut down to half time. As you can imagine, it’s been an adjustment.

I love my job, that’s never been the issue. I doubt I would have stayed as long as I had if I didn’t.

Still, thoughts of what I want to do long term, where I want to go more long term and who I want to be has been at the forefront of my mind.

I’m nearly 28 and I still don’t know what or where it is I want to be in five years. Other than living the dream and traveling the world.

I say this because today is my last day at work for the month of August, granting I don’t find another job before September.

As you can imagine, I’ve spent the better part of the last two months (give or take) getting things ready to go and done before I leave the building today. When I haven’t been working, I’ve been babying a leg injury (that’s finally healed, a big yay there) and working in the University letterpress lab. Not to mention, playing Skyrim, Animal Crossing and Tomodachi Life. My life, let me show you it.

Never fear, I don’t plan on abandoning this blog for a long while. What I plan to do next is figure out the direction and how to streamline it. It’ll take a little work but I’m excited.

Please stay tuned! I have some new posts in the works that include my England/Ireland and Omaha trips and my experiments in the letterpress lab. It’s very exciting!

How about you? How’s your summer been?

  1. I know exactly what you mean about wanting to blog, but not really knowing how to say it in a way that sounds interesting.

I continue to look forward to your posts and hope to see more about your England/Ireland/Arizona trips soon!
